Get a Criminal Record Expungement in as Little as 60 DAYS!
Pennsylvania set aside specific laws that allow people to rise above mistakes of their past. Check out this screenshot of the “expungement statute” below:
(Source: Pennsylvania General Assembly Website, 18 Pa.C.S. § 9122, 2022)
These laws are vast and very COMPLICATED to understand without the help of a Philadelphia criminal record expungement lawyer. The good news is that you’re in the right place. Let’s break this statute down into simple language.
PA Criminal Record Expungement Options:
Option 1.
Get an arrest or prosecution record expunged if the case resulted in a discharge, dismissal, nolle pros, or withdrawal
Option 2.
You haven’t been arrested or prosecuted for 5 years (for summary offenses)
Option 3.
You’re now an adult with a juvenile record, and six months have passed (for juvenile adjudications)
Option 4.
You’re at least 70 and haven’t been incarcerated for ten years (for any criminal conviction)
Option 5.
You want an expungement for a relative deceased for three years (any conviction).
REMEMBER: Pennsylvania court dockets are PUBLIC. Don’t let anyone see this negative information about you if you have the right to get it removed under one of the above-mentioned legal options!
Have you considered that maybe you already have a clean record? PA expunges some cases automatically …
Did PA’s Clean Slate Law Automatically Seal Your Record?
Did you know that Pennsylvania laws automatically seal some criminal records? You might already have an expungement and not even realize it!
Meet Pennsylvania’s Clean Slate Law:
Pennsylvania’s Clean Slate Law automatically seals the following types of records:
- Non-convictions: 30 days after disposition of the case
- Summary convictions: 10 years after disposition of the case
- Low-level misdemeanors: No criminal convictions in the last ten years and have:
- Not convicted of a felony
- Not having more than one first-degree misdemeanor conviction
- No more than four misdemeanor convictions
- Not convicted of a sexual or violent offense
If you don’t qualify for this option, you can still formally request an expungement of your record. However, there may be ONE MORE OPTION IF YOU DON’T QUALIFY FOR EITHER…
Plan B: Sealing By Petition
How Sealing Works: If you have a conviction for a qualified misdemeanor or an ungraded offense punishable by five years or less in prison, then you may be eligible for an Act 5 limited access to a criminal history record.
You have a legal right to seal your criminal record if you haven’t been convicted of a misdemeanor or felony for at least ten years, AND you haven’t been convicted:
- Of murder, 1st-degree felony or felony punishable by more than 20 years
- Felony firearms charges, violence, sexual offenses, or failing to register as a sex offender or have more than four or more second-degree or higher misdemeanors in the last 20 years
- Within the last 15 years for more than two or more M1s or higher, including indecent exposure and failing to register as a sex offender
- Any M1s related to violence, firearms, and sexual offenses
There are some limitations associated with this option. You should speak with Philadelphia criminal record expungement lawyers as soon as possible to determine if it’s right for your situation.

FEEL MORE COMFORTABLE WRITING IT DOWN? No problem; shoot Brad a message here directly.
Brad was the ONLY one who facilitated a face to face meeting online over Google Meet. I knew after speaking with him that I wanted him to represent me in this matter. He just seemed very thorough and knowledgeable. A couple of the other attorneys I spoke to had poor responsiveness which is alarming when that happens BEFORE you pay to retain their services. I'm not in the same state as he is but that did not matter.Brad was able to work with the other party and get this issue resolved fairly and quickly.
Thank You!
You can't go wrong with Atty. Shuttleworth.
He's a true professional!
Brad's performance in the trial was swift, calculated, and methodical. In what seemed like just a few minutes, Brad picked apart the claimants case against me, and the judge swiftly ruled in my favor. A year of anxiety gone! Brad is well worth the money spent and I recommend him without reservation.
If you need help Brad is the person to connect with.
He has truly impressed us and he is our go to person If we’re ever in need of his legal assistance again

Who Are Our Philadelphia Expungement Lawyers?
Hi, I’m Brad V. Shuttleworth, Esq.
I have practiced law throughout Pennsylvania and South Jersey for nearly the last 20 years. My one true professional passion is winning—and winning big—for my clients.
Sure, every case is different, and some people are in MUCH TOUGHER situations than others. However, I seek the most favorable outcome for any given situation.
Simply put, your objectives are my objectives, and if I can find an even better target, I’ll definitely communicate my ideas and thoughts with you as they arise.
Thrill-Seeker
Just a personal factoid about myself: I’m a bit of a thrill-seeker, too. I’ve enjoyed riding motorcycles since I was a kid and look forward to every ride.
Technologically Capable
You will never have to worry about accounting for technology in your case. I’ve been able to exonerate clients based on metadata alone. If there is a digital footprint to win your case, I’m going to find and use it.
Accessible
I like my clients, and I like to see them happy. Therefore, I prioritize accessibility when hiring me and managing a case. I return all communications promptly and offer case updates so that you’ll NEVER have to chase me down.
(Well, not unless I’m running another marathon…)
“You Don’t Just Have to Take My Word for It…”
It’s hard to evaluate which Philadelphia criminal record expungement attorneys is the best option for your case. That’s why, I think it’s important to pause for a moment, and let past clients and peers share how they felt about my firm’s results:
